It was an average Thursday night in St. louis at the Pageant when the DJ walked out to hype up the crowd, but they were already ready. Blxst, whose debut full-length I’ll Always Come Find You just dropped in July, had two opening acts that the crowd welcomed with open arms. Kicking off the night was Joony, who immediately captured the crowd in the palm of his hand for a short yet so sweet set.

A quick changeover happened and out came Leon Thomas for a second round of melodies and rhymes. Thomas came strong, capturing the crowd with both his smooth vocals and backing guitar to create a silky-smooth pairing of musical performance.

In between each set, the crowd was having a great time just vibing to the tour DJ or simply the house music playlist.

Then the headlining act of the night came out to a roaring crowd. Blxst took to the stage as the crowd shouted “Birdie,” the name of the main character of the concept album this tour is named after. Blxst fired up the set with “Paper Route,” the first song off that very album. Birdie was written on his hat along with thematic signs, half a car, and other stage décor literally setting the stage for songs from this album and his prior hits. Also performing fan favorites like “Want You to Know,” “Dance with the Devil,” and “Die Hard,” the crowd was feeling it till the last note. The crowd poured out of the Pageant after the finale song with nothing but good vibes. | Matt Klose
