The eternal pursuit of the artist is the balance between self-expression and symbiosis with their audience. This gets increasingly difficult as influences adapt and tastes grow. This became especially true over COVID, when artists found themselves isolated from live performing, immersed in an incubating chamber of boundless creativity. This rings especially true for Little Image, the Dallas trio composed of Jackson Simmons (vocals/guitar), Brandon Walters (bass/synth), and Troy Bruner (drums).

The group began within the indie realm on their first release, 2017’s Musings, evoking the immersive melodies of From Indian Lakes, but then they spent the pandemic drawing from influences like Radiohead and M83, finding ways to bridge experimental electronica with pop, all while creating just as meaningful and emancipating experiences. Their Youtube channel provides a taste of this, with “Live Experiences” of singles “Ego,” “Worth It,” and “Clean” that showcase what listeners can expect when they see them live: the trio energetically performing their imaginative musical concoctions with a backdrop of dizzying geometric graphics, flashing lights and colors, and home videos

The songs and more will be featured on their self-titled major label debut, set to be released on May 12th, 2023 on Hollywood Records. Until then, the public can see them supporting Colony House on The Cannonballers Tour, which kicks off in St. Louis this Friday, February 17th at Delmar Hall.
