Gin Blossoms opened up the festivities on the Wayback Pointfest mainstage with their trademark mix of Byrds-ian jangle and Big Star-style power pop. The band is touring this summer with Wayback Pointfest headliner Collective Soul in support of their latest album, Mixed Reality. The album, released last year, sees the band teaming up with producer Don Dixon and engineer Mitch Easter, the legendary production team behind R.E.M.’s first two albums, Murmur and Reckoning.
