On Tuesday, November 4 2025, San Diego’s indie-pop trio almost monday — comprised of Dawson Daugherty (lead vocals), Cole Clisby (lead guitar), and Luke Fabry (bass) — brought the sun-soaked energy to The Pageant in St. Louis as they opened for The Band CAMINO.

But almost monday didn’t just warm up The Pageant — they detonated it.

Right off the bat, the group plunged the room into an electric haze. The stage was lit largely in darkness, broken only by strobe-like pulses from the house lights, mimicking the likes of an underground basement rave. Though a mild nightmare for a photographer, it was electrifying for the crowd, perfectly suiting the chaos and charm of almost monday’s live performances.

I have previously described the band’s sound as “energetic, beachy, and infectious.” In St. Louis, this was translated into live motion: clad in a green beret and sunglasses, frontman Dawson Daugherty strutted, whirled, and sprung around the stage with loose, but thrilling confidence. My boyfriend insisted he was air-bending at one point. Cole Clisby and Luke Fabry wove a hammock for the harmonious havoc with the razor-tight guitar riffs and bouncy bass lines; the audience could not get enough. The crowd did not stop dancing and singing throughout the entire set.

Before almost monday took the stage, the night kicked off with a surprise standout: In Color, an alt-rock crew I admittedly arrived knowing nothing about. I was immediately impressed by the mature, powerful, and crystal-clear lead vocals. The emotion-filled set perfectly warmed up the crowd for the night to follow. | Rachel Hopson
