Michigander just brings the good feels, the kind that you just can’t fake. Fronted by Jason Singer, this super-fun band always plays with a hell of a lot of heart along with huge smiles and even bigger choruses. Everything about the show felt like pure Midwest charm and golden indie-pop had a happy collision. Starting the night with a pure Michigan intro and green string lights surrounding the stage, Jason Singer grabs all the attention with his very heartfelt approach. The whole set felt polished but still a little scrappy in the best way, like hanging out with your most talented friend who just happens to write emotional songs that hit you right in the gut and you want them to be famous so bad. There’s an ease and honesty about Singer that I totally dig, feeling like a mix of pure sincerity and big-stage confidence. His amazing talent and fun approach to his music makes you want to root for him even harder. And his voice sounded as good as ever, belting out songs like “Emotional” and “Misery.”
The show was visually subdued with a lot of golden hued and green lights, lacking a lot of bright flashes that tend to abuse the audience at most shows. It was glowing with an alien hue, making the music feel lighter and brighter than the stage. Delmar Hall glowed under warm lights which gave us all warmer vibes, making good mind for us all that this is why live music matters. It’s about atmosphere, vocals that don’t hold back, and getting lost in songs like “I’ll Be Okay” and “I Am Michigan,” even when we’re not. Jason Singer has natural magnetism onstage, the kind that pulls you in and next thing you know, you’re smiling. His songs walk the line between big, cinematic indie rock and small, deeply personal storytelling, with a happy dash of pop type vibes. Check out “Let Down,” you’ll see what I mean. We sang. We danced. We felt a bit lighter, and we needed that with these strange and heavy days!

Opening the night was Oliver Hazard, who turned the stage into a cozy little world of their own—think county fair charm meets backyard singalong with soft lamps and string lights draped across the setup. Delmar Hall was transformed into something almost whimsical. Their songs were light and catchy, foot tappy from the first time hearing them. “This House Is Haunted” stood out most to me—it was the kind of song made for slow swaying, a little heartache, and the sweet ache of nostalgia. This indie-folk magic stayed with me long after the lights come up and was a great pairing for this tour! | Laura Jerele
