Concert review: Silly Goose w/ BRKN Love, Stay Here, locals Hang Your Hate | 12.21.25, Atomic by Jamo (with photo gallery)

Have you ever bought a shirt with someone else’s mugshot on it? Well now I can say I have!

Silly Goose is a fast-growing nu-metal band from ATL, best known for playing pop-up shows everywhere from the back of trailers to parking lots to gas stations to corporate offices. Their guerilla gig energy landed their frontman, Jackson Foster, in jail with criminal trespassing charges due to a gas station claiming the band didn’t have permission to play there. The band said they had permission, but then the gas station changed their mind. Maybe the gas station just has bad taste in music and wasn’t liking what they were hearing.

Thankfully, Sunday night’s sold-out show at Atomic by Jamo went smoothly with limited drama. Silly Goose very much had permission to tear up the venue, joined by special guests BRKN Love, Stay Here, and our fellow Missourians, Hang Your Hate from Columbia. No one was arrested, but there were several bloody noses, about a dozen concussions by the end of the night, and destroyed Christmas trees…

Missouri-grown heavy hitters Hang Your Hate kicked off the evening with a crushing set. Frontman Garrett Curry knew exactly how to get the crowd in a frenzy, sending bodies flying almost instantly. Each band member brought intensity and made it difficult to decide where to point my camera. A wonderful problem to have in my opinion. Oh, and a guy almost landed on me, but that was to be expected.

Stay Here is an Atlanta rock band that brought in some indie rock vibes to Atomic. Great energy from each member and the crowd was loving it. I read an article that they play shows “like it’s their last show” and I can whole-heartedly agree to that statement. While their music was different from Hang Your Hate, the vibes were the same. The crowd never slowed down once since the show started.

BRKN Love hit the stage next, and again, each member brought so much energy, and I was taking so many photos of each member that at some point I had to put my camera down and just enjoy the show. This was my first time seeing the Canadian alt rock band from Toronto perform and I loved them; I will be adding them to my listening rotation.

Once BRKN LOVE wrapped up, the crowd began packing in tight. Everyone was fighting to get as close to the stage as possible for Silly Goose. The room was shoulder to shoulder, cheek to cheek, and butt to junk, and I had to try to squeeze my way up to the front as best I could. Not so easy when the crowd contains a ton of super tall guys. And I’m definitely not a tall guy. Plenty of them offered to lift me up for better shots, but I politely declined.

What followed was hands down, the rowdiest show I’ve ever been to. Bodies were being tossed, fists were flying, and circle pits were circling. One guy told me “good luck” when I tried to move from my spot. I nearly got taken down in the circle pit. Silly Goose’s new album Keys to the City is awesome and worth checking out. Their performance was perfect and made me love them even more.

By the end of the night the Christmas trees that lined the stage were destroyed in a circle pit. Atomic posted the security footage on social media if you want to check out the damage. But what I’d like to know is why were there Christmas trees at a Silly Goose concert, and were they planted by Silly Goose to be destroyed for some controversy? The world may never know. But if you know anything about Silly Goose, it is that they have a reputation for bad behavior and Sunday night they delivered exactly that. | Katie Pinkston
