Tinley Park held Twenty One Pilots’ fifth show of their Clancy tour, and the sold-out crowd was buzzing with excitement from start to finish. Indie-pop sensation Dayglow perfectly opened an unforgettable night. The band kicked off their set with the pulsing energy of “Ricochet”; the catchy synths instantly hooked the crowd’s attention. Lead singer Sloan Struble’s playful stage presence had fans bouncing along to each song.
The fever pitch of their set came with “Can I Call You Tonight,” their biggest hit that put them on the Indie map. It was clear the fans knew every word, hands swaying along to the infectious upbeat tone of the track. They perfectly closed their set with “Run the World!!!”, a track with explosive energy that did a perfect job priming the audience for the headlining performance. Dayglow’s tight 40-minute set was a masterclass in indie-pop, leaving an impact on the crowd with their feel-good sound.

Before Twenty One Pilots took the stage, the air was heavy with anticipation. The band’s rich lore always inspires an array of extravagant outfits. The venue was filled with red and yellow duct tape wrapped around sleeves and hats, makeup mimicking aesthetics from iconic albums such as Blurryface and Trench, and symbols from head to toe nodding to every album. The crowd wore the band’s story.
The opening notes of “Overcompensate” thundered through the venue as drummer Josh Dun was hailed to his drum set, his face covered with a mask with glowing red eyes. Right before the first lyrics rang out, lead singer Tyler Joseph exploded onto the stage, also masked, leaping from atop their iconic old wood piano. The crowd was a frenzy of screams, as well as chanting along with each lyric. For the next two tracks, Joseph seized the jumbotron camera and sang directly into it, making every fan in the crowd feel seen. As the final notes of the third track “RAWFEAR” echoed, Joseph tore off his mask, creating a tidal wave of cheers.
He soon traded his mic for his iconic ukulele, strumming along to older favorites such as “House of Gold” and “Tear In My Heart.” The nostalgia was heavy on the crowd, and it would stick with them for the rest of the set, as they hit just about every album they’ve released.

The duo made their move to their B-stage, a blazing car engulfed in flames, a nod to the lore of albums Blurryface and Trench. Dun waved a massive flag reading “Tinley Park,” igniting yet another wave of cheers of hometown pride. During “Chlorine,” Joseph and Dun wove through the venue, high-fiving fans as they navigated back to the main stage. Some songs from their newest album (Breach, released less than two weeks earlier) like “Garbage,” “Drum Show,” and “City Walls” received some of their very first live performances
A heartwarming moment came when Joseph invited an 8-year-old fan onstage to sing alongside him for “Ride.” This easily melted every heart in the venue.
Everyone knew the night was coming to a close when the first notes of “Trees” rang out. In a ritual cherished by fans, Joseph and Dun climbed onto massive drums hoisted by the fans in the pit, pounding out the song’s thunderous beats as red confetti rained down, coating the crowd. With a final bow, they delivered their signature farewell, “We are Twenty One Pilots, and so are you.” The words lingered in the air, a powerful bond sealing an unforgettable night. | Sevauna Stageman
