What an insane trio taking part in the “Good Vibes Only” Tour: DaBaby, Sean Paul, and Wiz Khalifa performing at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater on the 21st of July. The night kicked off with DaBaby, who wasted no time playing his high-octane tracks, rocking a pair of red and black checkered St. Louis overalls. His set was mighty impressive, and while he was slated as an opener, the crowd picked up on his charisma and sharp stage presence, making it feel like he could’ve easily headlined.

Sean Paul followed with a set jam packed with his greatest hits, sending pulses through the crowd with every bass drop. The stage was outfitted with an arrangement of keyboards, synths, and DJ decks. Signature tracks like “Got to Love U” and “No Lie” ignited cryo jets in perfect sync with the choruses, transforming the venue into a swirling, rhythmic cloud of smoke and light. “No Lie” marked a turning point in his set, as the crowd responded with hands raised, bodies bouncing, and a massive turn up in energy. After Paul threw merch into the crowd during his track “I’m Still in Love with You,” he moved onto his closing song “Temperature.” This was a theatrical sight to behold, his combination of fluorescent multicolor lights, pulsing smoke, and choreography sent waves of emotion into the audience.

With the haze already thick, Wiz Khalifa made his entrance through a wall of weed smoke with a lit blunt in hand, setting the tone that Wiz is known for. His track “We Dem Boyz” hit early and hard, creating absolute ecstasy in the crowd, lit up with a wall of lights that spanned the entire stage. Under a purple and pink glow, Wiz delivered lyrical flow that felt both heavy and contemplative, as messages woven through his verses drew fans into his headspace. “Black and Yellow” played next. Something I appreciated about Wiz was how he brought the microphone as close as he could to the edge of the stage and walked from one end to the other, he commanded every inch of the space and gestured at his fans below along his path. Midway through his second track, the backdrop turned a fluorescent orange, and the haze took on a surreal glow.

The ”Good Vibes Only” Tour was a whirlwind of sound, smoke, and outstanding vibes. DaBaby, Sean Paul, and Wiz Khalifa brought a firestorm of performing ability, showcasing their talent and crowd connection into a show that left a mark. One stage, one night, this was St. Louis’ chapter in the Good Vibes Only Tour. | Michael O’Connor
