Obviously Offbeat is the ever-evolving solo work of St. Louis-based producer and multi-instrumentalist, Kevin Koehler. Perhaps best known for his work in the hip-hop fusion group iLLPHONiCS, Koehler conjures a much different sound when taking full rein.
Phrases like “alt-Americana” and “psychedelic indie-pop” have been used to describe the sound of the self-released Infinite Will (July 2021), which was written, performed, and produced entirely by Koehler. The album earned a top twenty placement on KDHX’s Top Local Album Spins of 2021. Now joined by Justin DiCenzo on bass and Steve Larson on drums, Koehler is working on the follow-up to Infinite Will.
