Founded by singer-guitarist Ben Bridwell in 2004, Band of Horses broke big with “The Funeral,” the first single off of their debut album Everything All the Time (released in 2006 on Sub Pop), which has appeared in dozens of films and TV episodes. The band’s success stretched into the 2010s with indie rock staples like “Casual Party” and “In a Drawer,” and The Arts STL’s own Mike McCubbins named their most recent album, Things Are Great, one of the best albums of 2022. The band’s current lineup features Bridwell, longtime drummer Creighton Barrett and keyboardist-guitarist Ryan Monroe, bassist Matt Gentling (also of Archers of Loaf, and a member of Band of Horses since 2017), and new guitarist Brett Nash. Known for their lush harmonies, emotional lyrics, and captivating performances, Band of Horses will no doubt enchant you with their very cool blend of indie rock and Americana.
