The best voices are those that make you feel transported. They swim around in your brain and deposit you in to a location or a scene from your past or your memory. Samia’s soaring and playful voice paired with her fantastic, feminist, badass lyrics dropped me squarely at a protest rally in the 1990s where we countered those who disagreed with us with laughter and smiles.
Donna Missal brings me to a smoky bar, back when bars could still be smoky, where you may or may not be nursing a broken heart while low key looking for someone to help you avoid that pain.
Friday night, St. Louis will be treated to these two strong musicians. The Ready Room is hosting Donna Missal and Samia in what promises to be a lyrically fantastic, energetic and intense show. Tickets are available at the venue and on Event Brite, and it’s an all ages show. Which is great, because I’m bringing my kids.
