Not having a new release didn’t seem to stop Middle Kids from grabbing a great slot on the national Bootleg Firecracker Tour—a triple bill along with indie/alt darlings Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra. Hailing from Australia must have made them immune to the sweltering Saint Louis summer heat, because they performed with fabulous vibe, energy and hitting melodies as if the heat was not even an issue. Their setlist included fan faves “Edge of Town,” “R U 4 Me,” and “Mistake.”
Hopefully their next stop through town will be a headlining gig as the rest of their catalog certainly deserves it. | Laura Jerele
