About this week’s artist:

Gabriel Vianello is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, beatmaker, and producer based in St. Louis, Missouri. In his solo work, Vianello finds inspiration through jazz, ‘60s-era rock, post-punk, and hyperpop, creating a musical landscape expressing themes of love, spirituality, and self-actualization. The twenty-two-year-old artist isn’t afraid to explore new realms of creative expression, and will do all he can to inspire and motivate those who listen!

What brought you to this point in your life as a working St. Louis artist?

My life has always been surrounded by music and I can’t imagine doing anything else! It is what brings me the most happiness and pleasure in life and has helped me connect with so many inspiring and talented people. Every day, working as an artist is a conscious decision I am making, but at the same time, it feels like the creative path is something that is preordained and I am just here for the ride.

What inspires your music? What does this song in particular mean to you?

My feelings and experiences as an individual have a huge impact on my music, but more than anything, my desire to simply have fun and uncover new sonic possibilities is what brings most new ideas to the table. There is a lot to be said about going with the flow when creating art and allowing your subconscious to make creative decisions for you.

The song I performed for Blip Blap Video is called “Mind Trigger” and is a personal favorite of mine. The song as a whole is about escaping the inner dialogues people often have in their minds and feeling free enough to be themselves with others. This song in particular gives me a lot of energy and I always feel a great release when playing it.

Where do you hope to be in 5 years?

I hope to be making music full-time, whether that means producing music for myself, other artists, as well as performing live. Becoming successful in the music industry isn’t easy, but with enough hard work, passion, and support from others, anything is possible.

Aside from music, I have a love and passion for fashion and visual art and would love to start my own clothing brand.

But more than anything, I hope to be in good mental and physical health and surrounded by people who love and support me for who I am.
