This week’s episode features NITE FRVR performing their original, “Boomerang.”

About this week’s artist:

NITE FRVR is St. Louis’ self-proclaimed premier opening band.

What brought you to this point in your life as a working St. Louis artist?

St. Louis has so many incredible artists and talented people and we’re just happy to participate. There are a lot of queer friendly venues and spaces and there’s a show every other night it seems like.

What inspires your music? What does this song in particular mean to you?

Our sound is a very ‘80s or mid-2000s synth pop throw back. Mostly incredibly simple pop songs that are heavily juiced up with keyboards and a backing track and interesting guitar and bass parts. This song is called “Boomerang” and it was written by myself (Patrick Kablamo) and Amy Elizabeth Quinn for our old band. It never got recorded or released so we’re really happy to be giving it a second life. It’s interesting because it was written years ago around the concept of millennials being the “boomerang” generation and the phenomenon of people in their 20s having to move back in with their parents after living on their own. But I don’t think it’s actually a phenomenon anymore because it’s probably happening more often now than ever.

Who in St. Louis are you inspired by right now?

I think Superfun Yeah Yeah Rocketship is still number 1. His show keeps getting better and better.

What bands are you performing with lately?

Young Animals, Beau Diamond, The Legendary Tiger Rider, Mom Rock, Amy Elizabeth Quinn, Sewer Urchin, Half Gallen & The Milk Jugs, Dowsing, Shidded, Casper Webs, Kicksie, Superfun Yeah Yeah Rocketship, Kitz Row, The Bone Docs, A.M.Strings, 3 of 5.

Where do you hope to be in 5 years?

We’re working slowly through recording our first album. We started with two band members and now we have five so the music keeps evolving while we’re recording it. Five years from now we’ll be on album number three hopefully, we have plenty of songs. It would also be great to start playing some festivals and be one of the bands in tiny print at the bottom of the flyer.
