In an Instagram live, From Ashes to New vocalist Danny Case announced the band would do a super short tour to end out the year but was vague with the dates at the time. I just knew they wouldn’t skip St. Louis because they rarely (if ever) have. The feeling is mutual: FATN is one of the bands that’s a MUST-SEE live experience. The energy is always at a 10 and I’ve never left a show with any energy to spare.
Their newest release—Blackout, released this past July on Better Noise—is a monster, almost bringing that live feel into the studio. “Nightmare,” “Monster in Me,” and “Hate Me Too” have been on many stations’ rotations, as is the epic first track “Heartache.” Co-vocalist/lyricist Matt Brandyberry has ways with writing and performing songs to hit so gutturally and these dozen tracks are no exception. Lead guitarist Lance Dowdle is the lead guitarist and records bass on the albums and his riffs are always solid. Mat Madiro rounds out the band on drums and completes such a well-rounded sonic feel.
Touring this round with The Word Alive, Catch Your Breath, and Ekoh, concertgoers get a phenomenal lineup to end this year with. It’s going to be an insane evening of music. | Diane Ruff
