Watching Indigo De Souza perform is like watching a floodgate spill emotion, talent, and energy. At times her performance and vocals are very controlled and ethereal, and yet she holds nothing back when her emotions take her voice to a very gritty and real place. Her powerful performance was suited quite well with the washes of moody, red lighting. One could not dismiss her as a mere opening act as she immediately drew in the audience from the nearly full venue.
Single heavy booms of electronic bass hit the crowd (and shook the building) as the lights went down, bringing duo Sylvan Esso to the stage. Keeping with a very moody and modern feel, the stage was mostly backlit with pulses of stark white lights timed perfectly to the beats. Their fans did not come to just watch the show, they came to dance! With such unique moves, it’s impossible to take your eyes off lead singer Amelia Meath. She’s a force of perfectly timed dance movements that somehow perfectly match her unique singing style. | Laura Jerele
