The inaugural Evolution Festival conjured memories of Loufests gone by, with unseasonably nice weather greeting an eclectic lineup at the festival’s Forest Park stages. The first day lineup featured eclectic St. Louis indie rockers Punk Lady Apple, local hip-hop duo The Knuckles, progenitors of the genre the Sugarhill Gang, country queen Nikki Lane, 1980s new wavers Modern English, indie rock polyglot Cautious Clay, former Alabama Shakes leader Brittany Howard, brotherly roots rockers the Black Crowes, and megastar blues rockers the Black Keys.
