Even a modest Monday crowd couldn’t dim the spark surging through Delmar Hall as Betty Who and Molly Grace made another stop on their “Out of the Darkness Tour.” Molly Grace opened the night with a nostalgic nod, incorporating Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” into the set, grabbing the crowd’s attention after playing the first verse. Her performance was an outstanding blend of youthful pop, offering a clear glimpse behind her rising popularity. I feel as if special credit is due to her choreographer – each move was a burst of coordinated energy, sharp and precise. Her voice through these movements sliced effortlessly through the mix, further establishing herself not as an opener, but as a mainstay in the making.

Betty Who followed, radiant with command and charisma. Her vocals throughout the set were ethereal. Betty’s voice, among the purest I’ve heard in a live setting, intertwined seamlessly with dancers Chris Jarosz and Sebastian Molina, whose fluid and deliberate movements elevated the music into something cinematic. The choreography didn’t feel like just a movement, it felt essentially woven into the emotional arc of each track being played. Standout moments in her set included her cover of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill,” paired with sweeping LED visuals. Her newest track “Sweat” drenched the Hall into a deep red, where, despite the weekday slot, the audience roared louder than crowds twice its size. She closed out with her popular cover of Donna Lewis’ “I Love You Always Forever,” a fitting finale that wrapped the evening in warmth and a collective glow.
Both artists transformed a routine Monday night into something far more memorable. The “Out of the Darkness Tour” lived up to its name – offering not just escape, but elevation through Betty Who’s cinematic storytelling and Molly Grace’s infectious positive spark. It was a night of vibrant movement, and masterful artistry. After the last song finished and lights dimmed, it felt less like the end of a set, and more like the closing chapter of a story we didn’t want to end. | Michael O’Connor
