Okay, so Fitz and the Tantrums at The Factory? Absolute blast. I swear I’m still grinning about it because of how much fun the crowd had from moment one; they made it feel like we were all just piled into this super fun, super cozy dance party. No giant crowd to get lost in, just a bunch of people vibing together like we’d all agreed ahead of time to have the best night possible. The energy hit right away, with bright lights flashing, people dancing, and honestly, I could not believe how many little kids were there singing their hearts out to music that is older than they are! It felt like the room was full of massive fans, which makes any show that much better.
Having two distinct vocalists and (lead) performers, you cannot help but be amazed by their talent together and also as two very distinct individuals. Michael Fitzpatrick and Noelle Scaggs create a special magic and their voices sounded better than ever whether singing together or just playing off one another. Their set was great and I’m pretty sure they rolled through everything everyone wanted to hear. “MoneyGrabber” came early (but not too early) in the set, “Out of My League” had everybody singing like they’d been rehearsing in the car all week. “The Walker” was so much fun because the crowd was dancing and whistling, having way more fun than you would expect on a random Tuesday night. Even when they slowed things down it never felt like the vibe dropped—the place was basically just one giant smile even if it wasn’t a sold-out show.
And the encore! Such fun, they kicked it off with “All the Feels,” with everyone either waving their arms or making little heart shapes with their hands. It was cheesy and adorable and perfect. Then they closed it all out with “HandClap,” and the whole room was in it together, clapping in sync like we’d been training for this moment all along. I don’t care how cool you think you are, you can’t not join in on that one. Even I found myself laughing while clapping along. Don’t judge, you would too! That’s what I love about Fitz and the Tantrums: you don’t go to their show to brood or stand still with your arms crossed, you go to move, to smile, to let loose for a couple hours. Their music forces you to have fun whether you want to or not, and last night was proof of that. It felt like the perfect mix of intimacy and energy, the kind of night that leaves you walking out happy and humming the songs all the way to your car.

The night kicked off with opener Gable Price and Friends, and I’ve got to say, they were the perfect warm-up. They’ve got this infectious energy that just draws you in, and even if you didn’t know their songs beforehand (calling myself out here), you kind of found yourself nodding along like you did. I really enjoyed Price’s power and how much heart he gave while singing—he did not hold back. The crowd was super into them (I love that for an opener), and by the end of their set, it felt like they had new fans. Quite a crowd gathered to meet them post-set at the merch booth, taking photos and getting autographs. I love to see that! | Laura Jerele
