w/John 5 and Eve to Adam | 8:00 PM | Delmar Hall, 6133 Delmar Blvd. | All ages | $35 advance, $37.50 day of show
The first time Queensryche rocked the Gateway city, Sigourney Weaver had a demigod named Zuul in her fridge, The A-Team was taking on clients, and Circus Magazine was required reading for metal heads across the country. Since that time, Seattle’s ambassadors of melodic metal have sold over twenty million albums, endured numerous lineup changes, and are now on the road promoting their third album with singer Todd LaTorre, 2019’s The Verdict (Century Media). The latest disc brings back the kind of hooks and power-prog touches that made albums like The Warning and Rage for Order such indelible heavy metal masterpieces. When the band shakes the walls at Delmar Hall this Sunday night, expect to hear rock radio hits such as “Jet City Woman” and “Empire” mixed in with new tracks from The Verdict and old-school jams like “Queen of the Reich.” It’s a rare occasion when STL metal fans have a chance to see classic metal bands take the stage in our fair city, so tune those dual guitars and take hold of the flame, Queensryche still has something to say. | Jim Ousley
