Concert review: Beautiful Things Unfolded for Benson Boone Fans | 07.27.26, Enterprise Center (with photo gallery)

The house was packed at the Enterprise Center for headliner Benson Boone with opener Olivia O’Brien.

O’Brien was stationed at the end of the long catwalk and seemed happy to stay in the confines of the main stage for her performance. Her presence was almost angelic as she delivered her well-known song “I Hate You, I Love You.”

Just a little fashionably late, Boone took the stage around 9:10 to an eagerly awaiting audience and then proceeded to deliver an electrifying performance for the dedicated fans who painted their faces and made signs to stand out in the crowd. Some of them were lucky enough to get a hand-to-hand interaction from the inner pit of the double-stage setup.

Boone backflipped his way into the hearts of fans last year, and it seemed he was everywhere. Luckily, he’s still going strong and has a fan base to rival the best of them.

The show was off to a great start with “Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else” as part of his Wanted Man Tour. Known for his powerful vocals, boyish good looks, and sparkling jumpsuits, Boone is as stylish as he is talented. For this show, he wore a more subdued black leather jacket, black pants with zippers that looked a little bit like chaps, and white socks and Adidas.

He was very aware of the massive stage and moved around freely, giving equal time to the fans on each side.

As he belted out hits like “Mr. Electric Blue” and “Mystical Magical,” he gave them just what they came for. Notably, his fanbase is mostly comprised of Gen Z and, not surprisingly, predominantly female.

“In the Stars” provided an opportunity for Boone to take to the heights of the venue and float around the arena on a star apparatus.

His newest release, “The Time of My Life,” gives us a glimpse into his world after the breakup with Maggie Thurmon. Let’s hope that he continues having the time of his life on the ride that is this magical career.

He ended the night with the ballad that started his career, “Beautiful Things,” while the fans supported his vocals in unison and provided one of those moments that bonded them in a core memory. | Laura Tucker
