Concert review: Billy Idol w/ Susanna Hoffs | 09.10.26, Hollywood Casino Amphitheater (with photo gallery)

Billy Idol at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater was such a fun night and brought back so much ’80s nostalgia for me.

Susanna Hoffs from The Bangles opened the show and sounded wonderful. Her voice still sounds so good live. She also has a new album, The List, coming out September 18th.

Then Billy Idol came out, and at 70 years old, he still has it. The attitude, the fist pumps, the sneer—all of it. His voice is a little rougher now, but honestly it works, especially on the slower songs.

For me, the best part of the night was “Eyes Without a Face.” I’m a total ’80s baby, and that has always been my favorite Billy Idol song. Hearing it live and actually watching him sing it right in front of me was so exciting and nostalgic. That was definitely my moment of the night.

Steve Stevens was amazing too. His guitar solo included pieces of “Over the Hills and Far Away,” “Blackbird,” and “Eruption,” and of course the “Top Gun Anthem.” So good.

The set had a great mix of newer songs and all the ones everyone wanted to hear, including “Rebel Yell,” “Mony Mony,” “Dancing With Myself,” “Hot in the City” and “White Wedding.”

As someone who loves 80s music, this was just a really cool show to experience – especially with my camera in my hand.

And yes, “Eyes Without a Face” was every bit as good as I hoped it would be. | Carrie Ogle
