The 2026 edition of St. Louis’ own Music at the Intersection festival kicked off with a special Thursday night performance by Jon Baptiste at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. The Saturday sets spread across the Grand Center Arts District, including the Big Top, the Sovereign, Sophie’s, and the outdoor Theresa Stage, headlined by ‘80s/’90s funk favorites Zapp (assisted by modern funk duo Tuxedo). The late-day sets featured national acts like neo-soul group Moonchild, R&B singer-songwriter Dustin Conrad, jazz saxophonist Nubya Garcia, Charlotte rapper Mavi, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-certified Salt-n-Pepa turntablist DJ Spinderella, while local acts like the Mississippi Knights (a local supergroup headed by The Urge frontman Steve Ewing), hip-hop collective Illphonics, and saxophonist Kendrick Smith ruled the afternoon. Anyone in the crowd too wired from excitement to go home was treated to a late-night set from this year’s artist-in-residence, Keyon Herrold. | Jason Green
