Tycho’s music has an element of sonic brightness to it, electronic melodies that pull you in and somehow make you feel better and uplifted after you hear them. And let’s face it, it’s been a tough couple weeks in the world, so this show was a really welcomed and fantastic respite to real life! That aforementioned brightness does not just pertain to their beautiful take on electronic: their visuals are lush, colorful and deep, which really makes for a fully atmospheric presentation.

Ending their US tour here in St. Louis at The Pageant, there was quite a wonderfully diverse crowd brought together by the love of this band, who does not frequent our city often. One of the best parts about a Tycho show is watching people get completely immersed into their music—eyes closed, arms and bodies swaying, dancing, and smiling. There was so much of that last night! It’s an incredible experience because they are one hell of a talented band, led by founder Scott Hansen. It’s live music—full band, full, pounding sound, not just a dude with keyboards and a laptop if that’s what you’re thinking! A stunner of a show that made my heart feel lighter. Yeah, I needed that! | Laura Jerele
