On Tuesdays, we jam. At least this particular Tuesday—October 29, 2024—Cory Wong and his band brought the jam to The Pageant. Opening the night was the band Couch though don’t sleep on their music or performance. This Couch kicked off the night with their full band sound, mixing and matching with the headliner so smoothly.

After a quick changeover and a breather for the crowd, the lights stayed but gave a red glow as the band emerged to the stage. Then the main event, Cory Wong, came to the stage running and never stopped. The crowd was ready to dance in the aisle. Opening with his tune “Opener” and hitting the crowd with a barrage of guitar chords and brass horns, Wong and his band brought the funk to The Pageant. After jamming his way thru four songs of the setlist, Wong would take a second to introduce the lead singer of Couch, Tema Siegel, to join his band. Siegel performed “Call Me Wild” and a cover of Paramore’s song “Ain’t It Fun” to the crowd’s delight. Cory would continue to lead the band through songs like “Gumshü” and end the night with “Merci.” | Matt Klose
