Concert review: The Urge w/ Less Than Jake & My Posse in Effect | 07.25.26, Saint Louis Music Park (with photo gallery)

Despite the stifling Saturday night heat, fans filled the Saint Louis Music Park in Maryland Heights to catch a stacked lineup featuring Beastie Boys tribute band My Posse in Effect, ska-punk legends Less Than Jake, and hometown favorites The Urge. 

My Posse in Effect opened the evening storming the stage in tracksuits that paid tribute to the Beastie Boys iconic ‘90s style. They wowed the crowd with classics like “No Sleep Til Brooklyn,” and “Sabotage.” They kept the audience hooked by launching beach balls and White Castle burgers into the crowd and the party kept going as an inflatable monkey hit the stage to dance to the iconic hit “Brass Monkey.”

Next up was Less Than Jake, a famous ska-punk band from Florida, who started their set off with “So Much Less,” a crowd favorite. From their guitar riffs to their amazing saxophone and horn sounds, the audience was hyped up as they sang along to some of their other hits like “Lie to Me” and “Nervous in the Alley.” Less Than Jake truly set the tone for the night’s headliner. 

The Urge hit the stage to a thunderous hometown welcome, the kind that only The Lou can deliver. The voice of The Urge, Steve Ewing, appeared sporting a blue STL baseball cap and connected with the crowd right out of the gate. The band performed fan favorites “All Washed Up,” “Too Much Stereo,” and “Jump Right In,” giving the fans the high energy performance they’ve come to expect and love from the band. 

Even with the summer temperatures as high as they were, the crowd stayed until the final note, proving that the St. Louis heat and humidity can’t keep St. Louis music fans from enjoying legendary music! | Paul Liggett
